Badlands

I can see the metrics but I
Can’t accept the consequences
Holding me to the deepest regions
Separating me from the masses

A glass panel reaches
From the sky to the deepest
Season to season dry

The horizon creeps I can reach it
If I try
Alone in the thickness

Dot connects to line
Assigned to me
To justify
We find the mean
And here I lie
A common theme
Outside the fold
Beyond the seam

Try to find what I can’t find
Find a mind enough like mine
To dissolve the veil

No avail
I fail to evict myself
From the space of the faceless
Baseless

It’s enough that I try hard
It’s enough that I work more
Just to take one step

In a world
That refuses to see
Anything that might be
Threatening to the stasis

You were right
You should fear me
Look away before you see
Anything I bring

I’m divisive
A crude presentation
Disrupting the station
You earned doing nothing

I could speak but I don’t speak
Every word hits the ground
Like the sound never left my mouth

I could scream, but I won’t scream
Here
In the vacuum of space
In these wasted badlands

Dot connects to line
Assigned to me
To justify
We find the mean
And here I lie
A common theme
Outside the fold
Beyond the seam

Inaccurate cultural messaging. A description of some different ways they can be experienced. Some of the common mistakes people make when interpreting or responding to them. And an introduction to how to listen to and respect them, so that you can benefit from them.

Sunshine

I wrote this song as a prayer. I was so tired of platitudes, blame, excuses, people just generally doing anything and everything they could to avoid acknowledging that pain has a rightful place in the human experience. This was more than...
